Workshops
A 45-minute educator-led session in our immsersive classroom.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo delivers hands‑on educational workshops bring learning to life through close‑up encounters with iconic animals. Guided by a Department of Education Teacher, students engage with wildlife conservation, animal care, STEM and sustainability through authentic, hands‑on learning experiences.

Our self‑guided excursions allow teachers and students the freedom to explore the Zoo, supported by learning resources.
Self‑guided excursions offer a self-paced way to explore our unique open‑range Zoo while developing scientific understanding and critical‑thinking skills at their own pace. With vast habitats and trails to explore, teachers can shape the visit to match their learning outcomes and student interests.
Make your excursion even wilder with optional add‑ons, including bike hire for exploring the Zoo’s 5‑km circuit and guided tours led by expert staff.

Our full‑day programs offer students an engaging and immersive experience designed to inspire curiosity about wildlife, conservation, and future career pathways.
Through a series of interactive workshops and hands‑on learning opportunities tailored for Stage 5 and 6 students, participants gain insight into the day‑to‑day work of animal care and conservation professionals, explore how scientific expertise contributes to protecting wildlife, and discover the wide range of careers that support modern zoos.

An overnight educational sleepover at the Zoo.
Stay overnight at the Zoo and discover a unique, hands-on learning adventure. Students explore wildlife, the environment, and the actions we can all take to help protect it through immersive after-dark tours.
